Quick Hits

Hey gang, came across this article in Top Gear magizine about one f my favorite cars of all time the SSC Ultimate Aero. The Ultimate Aero was made in the USA to be the fastest car ever built, and it was (its also the car on the background of this site). Amazingly enough, the record run was done by a 71 year old man because a professional test driver was too scared of the Aero's ability to have wheelspin at 215+mph. Even more amazing, the old bastard did it without a helmet, firesuit, or even a seatbelt. God bless America. Here's an awesome quote though......

"Before you ask, it's nothing like a Veyron. It's more visceral and more basic and, yes, more brutally fast. By some way. Shelby himself took a car to the Middle East where some local potentates arrived with two Veyrons and commanded the road be closed. It duly was, they duly did a TG-style drag race, and the SSC duly won. Two men ordered SSCs on the spot. The next day they paid. Using cash, pulled out of a Louis Vuitton holdall."

How awesome is that?  Here's the link to the whole article, which is a little outdated (the car is an '06, but tested now....) http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/ssc-new-fastest-car-world?

In other news, I've come across a company making street legal NASCARs. Here's their promo video:

And the scary part is, they have quite alot of kit in them, far more than a real NASCAR. In addition to lights, windows and doors, they have leather seats, cupholders, AC, a backseat with harnesses, and several awesome stereo options. Theres a 450bhp engine, but you really want the 572ci 650bhp version, which is available fuel injected or carbed. 5 or 6 speed manuals drive the wheels, and 6 piston brebo road racing brakes can be ordered. These beasts cost between $120,000 and $160,000, which isn't that bad actually. Give me a primer black one with no fake sponsers and the big motor. Please?

Busy day today, so that's it for today. Stay here for more Tuned Action.
